Why focus on training men over 50?

I've always been dedicated in helping people to become something better, something more, something that sometimes words can't explain. To me, exercise is as natural as breathing and walking, yet the more clients I've helped the more I noticed that this isn't the same (at all) for most people. And more so for the older generation. Over the past few decades of instructing personal training and group fitness sessions, I've also noticed that men are the least likely group to ask for help when it comes to improving their lifestyle, health and wellbeing and more so,  those men over the age of 50.

Some older men may find exercise boring or inconvenient and can feel intimated when going to the gym where most of the gym users are of a younger generation. A lot of men feel that exercise has to be very strenuous and uncomfortable for an exercise routine to be effective, keeping some older adults from even considering exercising.

Also, statically this demographic are facing more barriers than most people realise, such as depression and anxiety, self consciousness , lack of determination. lack of knowledge, Lack of social support and cost. Community structure can also be barriers to exercise.

Whats ironic is that exercising could improve or reverse the conditions that keep older men from exercising in the first place. Other barriers would be physical challenges such as chronic illness, disability and joint pain etc. These are common lifrstyle/health problems that can keep older men from exercising. They may also fear pain, further injury or sickness, or simply assume that they can't physically do the exercises.

The great thing about personal training is thatvit can save so much time in a clients day and can overcome all the barriers above as I'll be focusing on what the client as an individual CAN DO, rather than what they can't do.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Fitness After 50 different?

Not only am I an experienced fitness trainer but I'm actually over 50 myself! Understanding the training needs of men over 50, I have rebranded and re-organised my fitness business to now focus this specific demographic population. I understands the changes that come with age and the physical challenges that we all encounter as we age.

How does online training work?

Online training is really just the same as regular personal training but with an added bit of tech. And what's best is that you don't even have to be very tech savvy, as online training can be offered via Messenger or Whatsapp. Using your phone or laptop your training location is up to you - front room, garage or even your garden. We'll still start with a consultation to establish your training requirements and personal goal, and from there it'll be busness as ususal.

What are the benefits of training with a mobile personal trainer?

The great thing about training with a mobile personal trainer is there's no traveling, no gym membership, no training restrictions or long term contract. Saving you money and time. You get to choose your training location, in the comfort of your home or surounding areas, local park or even online.

How many sessions are recommended?

Generally two sessions per week are recommended as this creates momentum to help you make great progress. This will also produce better results and contribute to increased motivation. However, to achieve even better results, adding a third or fourth workout to your weekly training plan can make a big difference.

How can I get started?

Getting started with Fitness After 50 is easy! Simply message me to schedule an initial consultation at your preferred location or online. Your fitness goals and requirements will be discussed to create a personalized plan that suits your needs and preferences.

Is training at home better than training in a gym?

Training at home or at a gym can both offer great results. Gyms offer a great training environment, equipment and fitness classes. However,  training at home can offer privacy, convenience and also save you time traveling to a gym. Unfortunatley it's just a fact of life that when is comes to exercise most people struggle with motivation and stop excercising after a short time. Although, you wouldn't need to worry about motivation when a mobile personal trainer travels to you and brings any nessessary training equipment with them.

“I've been training with Jason for many years and now we're both in our 50's my training is still just as effective as it's always been. This training has been the best investment I've made for my health and the variety of my training sessions means I never get bored which helps me to stay motivated. The support I've received has been second to none and has helped me feel fitter and stronger, more confident and more energised.
